Abertawe Engineering Services, Ltd. has a wealth of experience and knowledge regarding the correct implementation of CE Marking of machinery, and are in the position to ensure you meet these legal requirements set down by the regulatory authorities.
All machinery supplied for use in the European Economic Area (EEA) must be subjected to CE Marking before being placed on the market. CE Marking on a product is a manufacturer’s declaration that the product complies with the essential requirements of the relevant European health, safety and environmental protection legislation.
CE Marking on a product indicates that the product may be legally placed on the market. CE Marking on a product also ensures the free movement of the product within the EFTA, the EU, and the EEA.
CE Marking on a product permits the withdrawal of non-conforming products by the relevant enforcement authorities.
CE Marking is also required for in-house designed and manufactured equipment, even if it’s for the companies’ own use.
CE Marking of assemblies of linked machinery is also a requirement under the Machinery Directive (UK SMSR), and is often overlooked. There is potentially no limit to the extent of the interlinking, this can be from a single signal, to a whole factory.
As a provider of machine safety consultancy, we can undertake an audit to ensure the machine meets the following criteria:
- Essential Health and Safety Requirements as set out in the Machinery Directive.
- Ensure that a technical file exists or one can be collated.
The best time to undertake the audit is at the factory acceptance test. The machine manufacturers agreement may need to be obtained before the audit is undertaken at their premises.
